A couple of the internal braces in progress
Here you can see the rounded edges
Test fit of the braces which are rabbeted for strength
A bit closer
A ring which serves two purposes, reinforcement of the driver opening, and the recess which supports the driver
for mounting. It turns out the Tempest requires exactly 3/4 of an inch for flush mounting. This worked out perfectly.
This is the baffle with ring mounted in the enclosure
Now we're getting somewhere. I wrapped the enclosure with cherry veneer and then milled up some solid cherry to create the
raised panel finish. The top and feet are a full 3/4" solid cherry and the raised styles and rails are 1/4" solid cherry.
A better look at the foot detail. Had to make these things strong. I haven't weighted this hummer yet
but I'm estimating 150 - 175 pounds by the amount of material used. It doesn't even vibrate when in use...solid as a rock.
I chose to mount the plate amp in this location because I build this sub to mimick a piece of furniture. This is the side of
the unit that will always be facing a wall.
